A Knock at OUR Door Contest - Extended!
By request - or demand? - our contest has been extended! Apparently lots of folks have been on vacation or otherwise "elsewhere" and frantically calling and writing to see if they can have more time to enter their art and stories. OK! OK already! You've got the time you've asked for...ahem!...we're just so glad you're excited. THIS MEANS YOU!
So by all means, enter to win some of the prizes listed below (in our previous posting) and write those stories, paint those pictures, and inspire yourself right into the Land Beyond the Duir! We'll see you there!

Duirwaigh announces: A Knock at OUR door - Contest!
Create a piece of art inspired by our film "A Knock at the Door" for a chance to win!
Our book and DVD A Knock at the Door will be enjoying its second printing and first major market release in June 2008. The first edition was created by Duirwaigh Publishing, but this second edition will mark its debut in a larger arena for retailers like Barnes and Noble and Borders. Published by Amber Lotus, A Knock at the Door second edition features four new artists and sixteen new works of art and a spankin' new cover by Matt Stewart.
To help us celebrate this auspicious occasion, Duirwaigh is hosting a Knock at OUR Door contest.
Create an original work of art inspired by the film A Knock at the Door. Any medium. Any size. Winner will be announced on the Duirwaigh Gallery web site, our deviantArt page and the official Duirwaigh blog on the evening of July 16th 9pm EST

About the book and film:
Our first inspirational mini-film has caused a small, unexpected international sensation. Thank you to all 1,000,000+ viewers who've seen it and the thousands of letters we've received in response! We're overjoyed so many of you are touched, encouraged, inspired. We have released a hard cover collector's book and DVD edition of the film which is now available. The book contains larger images of the art used in the film with glorious, lush detail. Amber Lotus has now published the second edition. Enjoy the inspiration!

* All entries must be submitted Midnight, EST, July 14th 2008
* Entries must be 100% copyright/created by the artist. Artist must have obtained permission for use of any elements/stock images/models.
* Though your art can be any size, your entry version must be in .jpg format, no bigger than 1MB or as link to your deviation.
* Three pieces/entries per artist allowed
* Submissions should be sent to knock AT duirwaigh DOT com
* Winner agrees to have their entry published on the Duirwaigh website

I'd been putting this off as long as I could. But since we've returned to Kennesaw, we've had to face some pretty devastating news. Remember the disaster/emergency relief declared for the south last fall? Rains came down and hard, weaving a path of wet destruction for many. Including us. It washed out our roof, our garage, our car, and half the walls in our house.

So I'm playing in my collage journal the other day, just placing things this way and that on acrylic-painted Fabriano paper, and I get in a groove. Something manifests that I like. Really like. But I'm thinking "G-yod, I wish I had some Photoshop skills. What could this piece become if I knew my way around alpha channels, masking tools and clone stamps?"
